Pineapples, orchids, bonsais, and grandparents.
I spent the past few days with my grandparents. I'm very close to them and it's great that I can visit a little more often after relocating to Tallahassee for graduate school.
We took walks around the neighborhood. And spent mornings on their patio with coffee and the newspaper. My grandmother checks the weather across the country first thing in the morning... to lovingly see what elements her family members nationwide will be facing that day.
My grandmother and I share a love of gardening. She's taught me pretty much everything I know about orchids and bonsais, as well as a variety of other plants. And I'm teaching her how to grow succulents. She has around 25-30 bonsais, many are decades old. Maybe 30 orchids. And countless other plants. What a green thumb! It was wonderful to garden with her. Not to mention drool over her rooster-printed gardening clogs, which were a huge hit with me. I'll have to get a pair of my own.
